Tried some Hammerite rust treatment on the bulkhead ready for seam sealing and etch primer soon...

Cheers - I’m looking forward to hanging up the welding torch to concentrate on some mechanical work (rebuilding the axles). I’m aiming to get the chassis prep and priming finished this week, fingers crossed!
I will need to spin the chassis over and finish off the work on the top side. There are a couple of weld repairs to do from the top to finish it off....

I thought I would have a look at the bulkhead support mounting area again as it is the last bit of the chassis (hopefully) that needs welded.

I cut it out and was really surprised to find that there were crush tubes installed and they were in really good condition. After chiselling off the outer rotten skin, I cleaned up the original bracket.

The original plate was mostly good enough to make a template for the new outer skin....

After cutting and a bit of hammering I managed to get a fairly decent shape on the flange which forms the top edge of the chassis

Not to bad a fit. Next I had to replicate the spot welds and get it ready to fit....

A quick tidy up with the flap disc is required as the bulkhead bracket needs to sit flush with the chassis

Thought I would put some etch primer on just to give the corroless something to adhere to. Probably not strictly necessary but I thought it wouldn’t do any harm.....

Managed to get more primer on......so almost done! Nearly 2 litres of corolless later
