Afternoon All,

I have some very troublesome rust on the rear wheel arches to the point where it needs to be cut out and new piece welded in. However I cannot seem find a pattern or original rear quarter panel and welding skills are not good enough to shape sheet metal without taking it to a body shop. As the panel is part of the main body as such, I assume, which is why you cannot buy a panel.

Just wanted to ask who has tackled this before DIY and how did they get over it?

Also the front panels are oxidising and need doing, has anyone tackled these please?

I was going to ask some scrappers to cut out a rear panel and cut/piece it in but never know what you are going go get.

Thanks.

Hi Lukas, DIY not, but there's a guy in surrey doing a nut and bolt restoration of a press P38 who had his rear wheel arches etc sorted professionally, which I have seen - the result is immaculate. I can fish out dets if you want - he did say "pricey" though...

Hi mate ok great if you got his details please?

I will have to get it done with someone as looking at it further way beyond my capabilities:(

You can get them repaired,

Either an entire rear 1/4 or the arches off a scrapper can be grafted on.

Hi mate, see attached the photo with my index and thumb is front wheel arch.

Wow thats bad for a P38.

looks more than just the top skin too, sorry:(.

It’s all doable but!!! Might be a bit of money if you can’t do it.

Yeah it is, it's a 1995 so kind of expect it, not had a good life before my ownership was mistreated hence why I had to rebuild part of the engine. Guess I am paying the price now....

It’s not age.
My March 95 is full of bumps got nothing like that :(
It is what it is, if you had a Disco that would be a minter

It spent most of its life in Scottish Highlands 15 years of that and neglect but it's all solvable just a matter of how much.

The cills under the chassis need re-welding aswell.

I wansnt being funny - if he looks in the Disco section there are loads of threads - they have the same sorta thing but have to reweld sections much more commonly. They make it look easy
Do get it with RRCs but not seen much on it here.

Mick and few others can show you they know their stuff
