Nice got a friend of mine who does DIY welding he is doing sills for my as I am crap at that sort of thing.
 
Afternoon All,

I have some very troublesome rust on the rear wheel arches to the point where it needs to be cut out and new piece welded in. However I cannot seem find a pattern or original rear quarter panel and welding skills are not good enough to shape sheet metal without taking it to a body shop. As the panel is part of the main body as such, I assume, which is why you cannot buy a panel.

Just wanted to ask who has tackled this before DIY and how did they get over it?

Also the front panels are oxidising and need doing, has anyone tackled these please?

I was going to ask some scrappers to cut out a rear panel and cut/piece it in but never know what you are going go get.

Pretty sure my rear one was done when tgat ****wit from Redline in Aylesbury pulled out into it when the missus was sat in traffic. How can you not see a bright red Range Rover. Of course. He pretended he couldn't speak English and then denied everything and iirc I think he even tried to claim she was in the buslane.

Anyway, we had to claim on the insurance and Baldwins got both a new doorskin, rear panel and plastic skin for the bumper. Guessing they got them from the main dealer because it cost a f*cking fortune.
 
It spent most of its life in Scottish Highlands 15 years of that and neglect but it's all solvable just a matter of how much.

The cills under the chassis need re-welding aswell.

It is the salt. That's what happens when you don't wash it off underneath. I've bought a low pressure jetwash just for that reason.
 
My old bus has started to go the same way, unfortunately once the paint gets worn off the tin work spreads like a ****er. You really have to patch it any scratches as they happen.
