Does anyone know of a company that supplies Roof Top Tents for a Freelander? I have seen many examples for Defenders in the Land Rover magazines but have never seen one specifically for Freelanders.

For what is is worth, I did an expedition last year and one vehicle in our group had a roof tent. I was not all that impressed. Sure they look great but once set up you are basically stuck. We had an Oz tent which goes up in minutes and allows you to still use your vehicle. We had a couple of days where we went back to the same camp site and we could leave all our camp stuff set up and go off for a day in the hills. Another thing was, the ladder broke on the roof tent (luckily, no one was hurt) and it left the tent pretty useless.
They are also bloody expensive for what they are. The Oz tant is also bloody expensive but we already had that.

Thanks for that. We were thinking of a Roof Tent for the added security plus it"s off the ground should we have a sudden down pour. Our other option is a Trailer Tent.
cheers

I thought they just fit to a roof rack? it might be worth thinking about some wheel spacers to improve the stability if your carrying a heavy load on top of a freebie.

As @Retrospaceman said, they aren't usually made for any specific vehicles, they're just made to fit roofracks, so if you already have a roofrack. measure it and check with the tent manufacturer what size rack their tent can be fitted to .. ;)

These guys seem to be using a Tepui roof tent.

Some of the photos on their facebook page of using it in the snow make me feel quite cold!

Added security? If you are in a roof tent and someone kicks out the supports and the ladder, you would be in for a big let down, wouldn't you?
