Hi all , looking to fit 2x cross bars to my p38,but do not have the longitudinal rails on my car. does anyone know if there is a system that will fit into the pockets in the roof. thanks.

Might be a better option to look for some OEM roof rails / cross bars (they are not cheap mind).
I found the locations to fit cross bars into the roof pockets didn't suit my roof box so opted for the OEM rails & cross bars as these can be adjusted to fit.
I paid £120 for the full set but needed a strip down & re-paint.

Come up now and again but like hens teeth. :D:D

I'm not paying hen's teeth prices.
I'm planning on putting some hardwood rails on mine, old yacht style.
Bolted clean through the roof.

<dons tin hat & waits for howls of derision from all sides.>

I have a set of oem on mine.I have never used them and probably never will. They enhance the look of the car imo which is rare for roof racks maybe thats why they rarely come up for sale.

You could use Rivnuts so the bolts don't stick through the headlining. :D:D

The headlining hangs like erm.... erm..... hanging headlining in my rear view mirror.
The initial staple gunning is failing as the granddaughter *cannot* stop picking at it....
So in aesthetic terms we are now going for timber Brutalism.

Old railway sleepers front and rear is also appealing. Preferably with the rail chairs still nailed on.

Or just some long assed nails, hammer them trough and hammer the ends over against the headlining.

of course do you even need a roof rack..

I meant the big metal lumps that can bite chunks out of lesser vehicles.

They aren't comfy at all.
