Hi

After my little altercation with the trees the other day, i feel the need for protection (other than just carrying my trusty bow saw) and was wondering what anyone would recommend.

In particular i've seen some rock and tree sliders made by Guardian at £150, has anyone had experience of these and are they any good, and most importantly are they too expensive? (I don't think they're made of newspaper!)

why thank you my good man! Must be all the leaches...i mean agents i've been talking to today!

What about value - the £150 guardian ones (£165 delivered!) seem relatively good value compared to the others but it does seem like a lot of money for what is essentially a couple of lengths of 2" box and a couple of tubes! Any thoughts...

i suppose £165 ain't that much when you consider the damage not having them could inflict (and almost did to both of us on sat!)

spend yer pennies on protectin yer diffs first, then yer steering, then yer fuel tank.
a bent sill aint the end of the world and a new one's only a tenner.

im haveing some made up aswell from a small metal working firm just down the road he,s going to charge me £75 and he,ll paint them and fit them for me

Would like to see a pic of how they turn out, am thinking that might be the best thing to do! The Guardian ones look exactly the same as some that a chap sells by auction on Fleabay, and i'm thinking if you got the measurements, they couldn't be that difficult to make up!

when there fitted ill take a picture and post they should fully fitted in a fortnight as me mot is due next week got to get that done first

ittle be like a what i call a leatheret finish, basically just powder coat but it has like a stipple rubbery finish, its slightly more durable then a standard powder coat.

I just Hammerite satin finish mine - about 4 coats is durable enough. Ere's a pic of the ones on me old V8 hybrid (ignore the circle round me rear grab handle) ;)

They look good. The good thing with hammerite is that if you do chip it then it's easy to touch up.

Ooh, another thing for the list then. This is gonna be a money pit, i can feel it, my wallets already very light.

I got mine from discoparts mail order, Google it their in Staffs! about 180 quid but very well made and powder coated. They do them for defenders also! I took a side swipe from some prick in a renault, no damage to me but he folded like coke can!:p

good luck
