Does your water temp gauge have a sensor in the coolant or is it wired up the the dash one?

My temp gauge is wired up to a new sensor that came with it which fits in the original sensors location.

Means the standard one and all wiring is now redundant but it wasn't exactly accurate anyway. :)

Ello! :)

So to continue the saga of the noise I've developed.

Today finished completely stripping the front axle all Bar the diff, cleaned everything, swapped out the CV's for a spare set I have, changed the wheel bearings as a matter of course, fitted me new HD drive flanges, even fitted a spare propshaft I have.....

And still have the noise. :(

So over Xmas I'm going to be stripping the front axle back down again to change the diff for a spare I have.

Tis the only thing I haven't changed axle wise so has to be that.

May go and restrip the rear anorl just to be on the safe side.

If neither of the axles are to blame I'll swap out the transfer box.
Either way I'm going out to play at Muddy Bottom tomorrow anyway. If something let's go then so be it.:D

Anyway in good news a pic of the HD flange fitted. :)

Cheers! :D

Got a bit muddy today :D

And stuck again......

Will hopefully get some more photos later on including the disco being slightly airborne....:D

Looks a very even coat of brown there, did you use a roller or a brush, maybe even a different method?
Ps looks as thou you spilt a lot too!

Haha. It was chuck it over the tyres and get it everywhere method. ;)

Come out rather well I think.:D

Go steady though Robb, that brown paint is rubbish for coming off in the rain!

What sort of noise is it you've got?

Haha. :D I'm sure I can find some more brown paint. ;)

Well it's hard to describe. It's a drone at higher speeds and seems like a squeak/squeal at lower speeds. Only ever does it under load.

When I had the front axle in pieces I did notice I had slight play (read a couple of millimetres) in the pinion bearing. So I think it may be that.

Soooo......

Like I promised

Getting the disco airborne...... :D:D

Quite shocked I didn't break anything really as I did that part 4 or 5 times.:D

Stuck again and being winched out backwards. :)

diff noises certainly do translate as a whine at higher speeds, often changing note as you shift gear

and bad bearings squeak at low speed

couple mm play in the pinion is BAD

Looks like you had a great day out :) , wish there was places like that around here
Was a great day! Nothing broken which is always a bonus. Although it almost overheated on the way home as the rad was full of mud so had almost no airflow through it......

Pretty much described exactly what it does right there. :(

Ah well I have a known good diff somewhere in my parts storage so will dig it out and get it in. :)

And the movement in the pinion really is a few mm. Probably worse now I've been to another pay and play with it. :p
