Good afternoon everybody, I am considering buying a 06 plate Rnge Rover TD6 Vogue, but the seller has listed the followingfault on the gearbox - "HOWEVER it does have a slight fault when going up a steep Hill and you kick down the gearbox will go into safety mode this is easily rectified by switching the engine on an off and away you go. however this is a problem all the same Which is more than likely a little electrical or speed sensor for the gearbox unit2" - does anyonr know what the nature of the fault could be and an estimate of price to rectify same.
Thanks very much folks

The GM gearbox on the TD6 is made of chocolate, they fail at not much over 85K miles. I wouldn't buy it, but if you do, budget for a recon gearbox and torque converter, £3K or more:eek:

Walk away. Seriously it's got an expensive problem on the horizon.
Gearbox faults nearly always lead to a recon unit on the L322 TD6. Take a chance and let us know... Hopefully thats not the case....

With the GM 5L40-E it’s unlikely to be an electrical or speed sensor fault. Much more likely to be an (expensive) hydraulic or mechanical one.
