I had a car smashed up 2 years ago(a punto)I wasn't injured,thankfully.The insurance paid me without problems.
Like you,i assumed that the insurance company would OWN any car that they have paid out for after an accident.(that was my first and hopefully last ever claim)
I asked them what was happening to my wrecked car(i just wanted them to get rid of it for me as it was sitting outside my house) and they told me that it was still mine and to do as i wanted with it,BUT,i had to tell them if i made any money on it.I scrapped the car and got £100 for it. I told them i got £100 scrap value and they deducted £100 from my insurance pay-out.Also, i got a seperate check for £100 from the insurance company because i complained about being "INCONVENIENCED" by not having a car to drive(i was just having a moan and wasn't thinking about money).
You should ask them if you still own the landy and if you do then strip everything that you want(everything thats not broken would be better) off it and scrap the rest.And moan about how inconvenienced you are. Good luck with your insurance.

Ps im glad im alive too lol i did say to my missus when she came to the hospital "well i cant get out of this wedding for the life of me lol" it stopped her crying
Made me laugh as i did a similar thing a week before my wedding, wrote off my harley on a bend which over the past 12 years had had 14 fatalities, i walked away and to this day i have no idea how i survived missing an oncoming car and other obstacles, neither did the guy who lived on the bend of the road.
Glad your oki mate, bit of t cut will bring that back into shape in no time
This is a good case for setting your vehicle up with front & rear facing cameras, with SD card recording on an endless loop. Very, very cheap now (1CH DVR is about £30, Camera will be similar), plus you can use the rear one as a reversing camera if you replaced the rearview with a screen/mirror.

Dont think im going to be able to save her chassis cracked and twisted. engines still good tho (I HOPE) only 33 Thou on the clock.
Absolutely gutted but im still alive.
Im now waiting on insurance to say how much there going to give me they dont seem to be dragging there feet and hopefully taking into consideration all the nice bits.
Anybody got any pointers how to get the best from them as iv been told they look at what its worth and then deduct 25% straight away which is worrying me slightly
would you advise buying her back? as iv got all stainless bolts in her and stainless full exhaust egr blanked, double cardon shafts etc.

Well the 2007 had problems i no but so did the early td5s. i would like the new dash and a 6th gear. do you not rate them? Yeah they paid out well
