All over the place seen £35 for 2 to £35 for one

Any issues with the cheapies?

I replaced mine recently with LR stock... so nowhere near your prices... sorry!

When you replace the ride height sensors do you need I diagnostic tool to calibrate them or are the plug and play so to speak?

No, as long as you disconnect the battery first or remove the SLS relay and fuse
If you don't you run the risk of knocking the calibration out

Mine is slightly up one side so may get it calibrated (as need the blocks as a bump stop is missing)

ive fitted numerous cheap sensors as well as genuine, all were ok apart from one which lasted less than a year

I have fitted a few on mine. All Genuine and they don’t last long as they always corrode and split the plastic. I might take a punt on aftermarket next time.

The ones I removed were, I believe, the originals, 14 yrs and 100k. No record of them being changed. The sensor itself was fine but the plastic bush/connector was wearing and degrading. The biggest challenge was getting them off as the fixings were pretty gummed-up.....

Bit by bit I'm replacing all worn parts rather than wait till they go.. I'm lucky I guess as she is in great condition and the chassis is solid its been looked after in that respect and oils and fluids seem to have been checked and changed.. but its the other basics that have been neglected like the injector loom.. which I have now changed.. fuel filter hadn't been changed in forever and the drag rod and tie rod ends were worn... next on my list is the coolant pipes which I will change for silicone and new shocks.. then it will be tackling the injector seals...
