Bought my second hand Freelander 2 in Feb. Now in garage having an investigation into a ‘restricted performance’ message. I’d had two similar messages in the last 8 months but went away each time I stopped and restarted. This last time, it didn’t. Leaking fuel pipe diagnosed and fixed but while still in the garage, another same message came up. They also noticed the EGR had been blocked off. Any ideas why someone would do that? And what else could be the problem? I’m not mechanically minded but need to know I’ve not bought a heap of problems.
 
If the car thinks there's a problem, you need diagnostic kit plugged in to read the error codes.

It will tell you why there is an error message on your dash.

Then you fix it!

Hopefully its something simple. I imagine if the garage say the message has come back, they are not doing diagnostic reads, or else they would tell you what the problem is rather than there being a message on your dash. TBH for a garage not to plug the car in to diagnostics, is rather like a baker not having an oven.

They ran diagnostics which pointed to low fuel pressure, hence replacement hose. So that’s fixed but now another, same message but they’ve not told me what the cause is. Could it be the EGR?
 
TBH, I'd have thought that if there was a leak in a fuel hose that was large enough to drop fuel pressure - you wouldn't have needed a garage to tell you that, you'd have seen it for yourself under the car.

The hose may have been weeping and needed replacing, but not the reason for the car identifying low pressure.

I'd imagine you still have low fuel pressure. I don't know what would cause that on an F2 - apart from the obvious faulty fuel pump or sensor itself. I don't know if the F2 has a lift pump and the low pressure was identified in the low or high pressure lines, a hose would presumably be in the low pressure, was the fault there or not?

You need to know what the error codes are to get help on here really. Plus what type and year of engine it is.
 
Put it to standard or the vehicle is illegal therefore not insured.
Tampering with the exhaust system is a big no no nowadays.
You mean emission systems, you can change your exhaust as long as its not louder that stock. Which sort of eliminates the point of doing it in the first place.
