Hello all,

Well on a whim I decided to go out and buy another Landrover, as you do lol.

Well this is what I came back with (yes its a real one) but boy it needs a few bits doing.

Anyway Landrover ownership is all about working on the cars as well, good job with this one.

Have a look at the pics, as I might need some advise on which way to go.

I understand I will need a new boot floor minimum, but it has rust in the rain channel and other areas.

Chassis is super fine, as is the rest of the body.

Is there a way of getting all of the rot out of the shell, I understand there is no simple answer to this question, but as I have never restored a motor before I am looking for advise.

Good to see someone fixing one up instead of just breaking it for parts .. Have fun .. ;)
 
Quick update on the Camel.

Well if I'm being honest I have very nearly given up twice, it's done my head right in.

Every time I think all the rust has gone, I find more.

Triggers Broom springs to mind.

I have even advertised it as spares or repairs.

But it looks like I'm stuck with the old girl, so I better press on.

Next job, rub all the body down.

When I get chance, I will put up some more pics.

Don't break her!!! She deserves to be restored!! Mine was much worse than that and u have said u can weld so crack on mate! Once all done it will be well worth it! You'll have a fine vehicle that will last u years and that u can be proud of! As I said mine was far worse and now she looks like this....

It can be done.... Have faith!!

I recently walked away from a genuine camel from the 1992 trophy that was campaigned by the Belgian team.

Bargain price but even though it was genuine and had some stuff still on it, the best I could come up with that it was a 1992 Disco 200Tdi that had already been rallied and had done little else since it came back.

I hope you do carry on with it, a lot of the goodies are very hard to find now though!!!

If you want to compare pics of rot I can probably beat you :p
 
Stick with it mate! You'll be proud of what you've achieved after. Already done the boot floor on mine and i'm just tackling the sills now. Its a ball ache but crack on and you will wonder why you ever thought about giving up.
