Thanks chaps. I like the look of those eBay ones, even if they are a lot more money. The x member on mine has been replaced and is rusted through completely already, I can only assume it was a cheaply, so would rather spend a bit more now than a lot more later.

Thicker materiel for the footwells may be a good shout. I was going to replace mine and plate them on top for added durability.

Nearly ready to replace mine but not quite. Still working on the chassis at the moment.

Another small update. Started the long process of grinding and rust removal. Quite pleased with how well it's coming together. I fully expecting things to start moving a lot quicker now I have more time on my hands.

First coat or red oxide on the bumper. Going to give it 2 coats of red before a thick layer of black, lightly sand it down and spray the final black top coat.

fix them welds on the rear cross member, look poor quality, as to low of heat when they/who ever welded it

The welds are terrible! I will be redoing all of them.

Couple more pictures of the weekend's progress.

Question, what can I spray inside the chassis before wax oil to help hold the rust? The section in the picture wasn't terrible but wasn't great either. I was thinking of spraying as much Hydrate 80 in there as I can as that hold rust pretty well.

Any ideas would be greatly welcomed!

Not sure what is best to do here...

have a look at fertan Home, water based reacts with the rust to make it inert, you can wax it later once the welding is done

usual caveats, I don't benefit in any way from anyone buying fertan and am nothing to do with the company, I just think its great, wear a mask if you spray it it makes a heavy vapour that hangs in the air and you wouldn't want to breathe it in.
