I have a Series 3 station wagon 109 which at the moment is a nasty shade of greenhouse green. I want to spray it NATO green but am wondering if the double roof will look odd. Would be interested in your thoughts and comments on this. Thankyou.
 
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder .... there are no rules but what's the issue then with the roof ?
If you mean a safari roof like mine .. just take it off and spray it too ...

Assuming this is a civvy vehicle, the original colour was probably Bronze Green, which is a nice colour on a Series.

Like he says^^^^^, double roof can be removed, painted, and replaced.
 
Thankyou gentlemen. Think I will spray it same colour as body and then see what I think of it.
 
White or limestone roof (the limestone seems to fade to near white in time) and bronze green. My ex-mil is bronze green overpainted with drab olive (by the army) then touched up with NATO green (by me because I had some). The bronze green is the nicest of the greens and it is the colour of the interior as the army only slapped paint on the outside. Cappings are tricky, if its ex-mil then they pained over all the bright work (my cappings and screen are black) but for civvy then galv looks nice but galv paint can be too shiny so some people mix a shade like weathered galv. As my cappings are black I will probably overpaint them in green when I do the whole thing in bronze green over the next few months. I'll mini-roller it on. The military do have green tops but they look very drab, which of course is their intention. I recently painted my wheels limestone (well Wilko "almond") which is very wrong for an ex-mil but it looks really nice and sets off the green.

I like a man who gets his automotive accessories from Wilko. Have you noticed the oils gone up.
It was £11 a gallon last year. £15 last week when I did a service. :eek:
 
I have a safari roof on my ex army (nato green) S3, picture attached... if it helps you decide.

Spraying the whole thing the same colour runs the risk of looking a bit naff, especially if you paint the galvanized bits too.
I would tend to agree with that. On a series vehicle the sides and roof should be a different color. Either Limestone if a proper roof and canvas if a soft top. I would also try and avoid painting the glaved bits unless it is a military one and painted in drab colours. Civilian colours definitely look better with the galvansied accents.
