Hi, new to the forum as I have just bought a P38 4.6 V8 project :)

First job is the head gaskets, trying not to spend too much but they are currently away being pressure tested and skimmed.

What else should I replace whilst I am there? Will replace valley gasket, exhaust manifold gasket, rocker cover gaskets and the head gaskets. Is it worth chaning the injector O-rings or anything else?

Also what is the best head gasket to buy without spending the earth?

block for a top hat linered one ,ive never come across many that just needed head gasket though possible
 
head gasket has just blown between two pistons, pistons and bores look fine though. Any other particular way to check it needs new liners?

I used island 4x4 full head gasket set on my 4.6. Reasonable price and very quick delivery. Plus they are helpful on the phone if you need to check compatibility. Went for the oem quality not the britpart. Good luck with it.
 
I was replying to Madbritt, although was on phone so could have replied to wrong thread !! besides I didn't start reviving this old thread

Read his post to a 2012 post makes no sence...I always check date of last post before responding can't stand years old threads being resurected not by the OP...who was Madbritt replying to?...lol
 
The trouble is if your on a mobile you dont see the dates
You need to wind it up a little more.

On topic, there's no chance I'm spending £30 per arp stud when i can buy a set of standard bolts for £10
