hey guys

just took in my freelander for it's mot and found out that the discs gave worn, I can easily get hold of the parts but can someone tell me...are they easy to replace?

Yes they are easy to replace. The discs come of very quickly without any hassle, unlike my old Mondeo when they had to be cut off with an angle grinder.

Mine were burnt off wiv a gas axe

guys it sounds to me that I'm going to give it a go, the place where I got my mot done, not saying any names....kwik fit...told me that they would charge £281.00 and also told me that I couldnt buy the discs seperatly, that I had to buy all the pads as well in a set.

I guess your answer's to them were the same as mine.....,!

make sure you get like fer like. . . .ie/ vented or solid

I did mine myself asswell, replaced the disks and pads.

Only problem I had was with the 2 "screw's" on each disk, they we rusted solid, but I managed eventually, appart from that it's very simple and easy.

Got my discs for £11.16 (have a look at Craddocks / Paddocks/ mm4x4)each and fitted myself within 2 hours.

My disc retaining screws were seized - tried an impact driver which began to damage the heads. I found it much easier to insert a screwdriver which fitted the head well and tap several times with a large hammer. The screws then undid easily.

I applied a smear of copaslip to the hub face, threads and brake discs where the alloy wheels contact.

If your unsure get your self a haynes manual (buy online from amazon for £12 rather than £20 at motor factors / halfrauds) and save over £200 from the numptys at twit fit.

Mine wouldn't hammer off, broke my HD puller, had to resort to angle grinder. On a brighter note the c/s screws came out first whack of the impact driver. Paddock Spares Rule!!!
