I bought mine (for a P38) from Rimmerbros website (no connection with them).
Parts number
Green : STC 1878
Amber: STC 1877
Clear STC 1205
Very easy to fit.

Sorry mate, just re-read this from the start and have seen the words 'soft dash', sorry I'm talking from doing my P38.
However I did get my bulbs from Maplins - sub-miniature 12 volt and available in different colours. I just had to wind the bare leads onto the bulb holder where the original ones were.

Same mistake. I'm also talking about p38.

easy : just screw the centre soft they is only one buld to change a plastic like a spider with eight feet bring the light to the other ;;

OK, I'm getting annoyed now - still can't get the bulb out!! Just to be clear, once you've removed the switch from the dash and unplugged it from the connector, do you then have to seperate the switch into two parts to get the bulb/holder out, or should it come out as is?

Managed to get the bulbs out! If anyone else needs to do theirs, ignore what RAVE says about turning them 90 degrees - it's bollocks. They need to be turn 45 degrees to release them, and then prized out.

All I've got to do now is source some replacements, I'm hoping my local Landie dealer might have some...!

Not a problem for me but the missus complains about it when driving at night. If so, does anyone have any insight into the best way to tackle this (replacing the bulbs, not the missus' inability to remember which gear she is in!)?

Hey Classicdriver,

Just to let you know I replaced the light on the passenger side of the gearbox selector this weekend, realy easy job. First up, prize off the outer plastic border - on my soft dash the clip was at the back, the sides are quite loose:



Then, you can actually hook the bulb holder out without removing anything else. A small flat head screwdriver behind the wires and then pull the clip with your fingers, lifting it up and out over the trim. The bulb is a simple push-type fitting, really easy:

I finally got round to doing this at the weekend - makes a nice difference. Thanks all for the help and pointers - cheers.

It does make a difference! Although the bulb I put in seems to get a lot hotter than original, so will swap it out for a cooler one hopefully soon before it melts something!!

I noticed mine were very hot too, I should follow suit. I have ordered the small bulbs for the 4 dash buttons that needed them as well as the one for the clock - they really were a bu99er to get out but hopefully they go in easier.

The seats are next up for a bit of work; the do not heat up and only the tilt function works. I need to replace the other 3 EAS bags (Goodyer did one last year). I also want to reactivate the cruise control and I have the same issue as you with the SRS light permanently on. Then there is the spare key fob, loose rear interior door handles that come off in your hand everytime you shut the door (easily fixed with a few washers) and finally I have an odd heater issue, where it cuts out intermittently?? I am sure there are others, but that's all I can think of right now. It never ends, does it!?

Afraid not! Good news is the switch bulbs go in a lot easier than they come out, I nearly destroyed the first switch trying to remove the blub!!

My drivers heated seat still doesn't work, only because I've been too lazy to delve into the foam and continuity test all the wires. I've carefully peeled back the leather and removed the metal circlips, so perhaps I'll get onto that this weekend. Now the pathetic amount of snow has gone, my desire to get it working has dropped off to be honest!

As for the electric seat adjustment, on my last RRC I took the top off of the seat control unit (you can carefully prise the adjuster knobs off, then remove the top plate) and sprayed WD40 in there. Moved all the adjusters around in every direction and never had another problem with it, worked great!

My SRS light is now off as Goodyer's cleared the fault code - good news is it was not the rotary coupler! Graham thinks it is a resistor somewhere in the loom, but no way of telling which one or where it is. For now it's off and I'm happy but am sure it will reappear at some point.

Airbag replacement is fairly straight forward but a lot easier with a four post lift, so I'd let them do that. Good idea to replace them though, they can overwork the compressor otherwise.

Cruise control mine has been diagnosed as the vacuum pump, but that's hidden under a load of LPG electronic crap so I'll do without that, probably wouldn't trust it even if it was working!!

If you have any luck with the key fob, let me know. Is yours the oblong Catlog 1 alarm/fob with single round button and metal contacts for the cubby box socket? If so, I cannot find a replacement anywhere, think I may have the lot removed before Morocco!

Cheers Mike, I'll give the WD40 a try on the seat adjustors and see if that helps. What's odd is that the non-working switches (tilt) seem to engage and there is an audible 'click' coming from under the seat, which suggests to me that the switches are engaging and maybe the motors have gone? I just need a clear weekend to get the seats out and have a really good look. Airbags will be definitely follow soon as the old 3 really do look on their last legs.

The little bulbs turned up yesterday (courtesy of Rimmer Bros and More4x4) so I got them fitted and now the dash is lit up like a Christmas tree! Looks good.
