Don't know, but that is a very good call, and I shall give it a try, thank you! :)
I don't know for sure mate, electrickery is a parallel universe to me. From memory my wires were soldered to the speakers and I did the same as you, never photographed or made a note of the colours:rolleyes:

True but getting the polarity reversed reverses the action of the speaker cone.
Surely the wiring is in RAVE?
yes, which puts the phase 180 out.. in a full enclosure, only the most extreme audiophile will notice a difference... so long as both speakers are wired the same, ie the solid colour wire on both speakers goes to the same connection, will be fine

Not sure if you have the DSP or not, but here's what's in my RAVE. Non-DSP models show same colours for pre & post 1999. DSP colours are different.

Thank you for these. Sadly I don't have this colour wiring B/BW and B/BW in the loom to the speakers.
As I say I have White/Blue pair and a Black/Red.

I have replaced the surround of just one of the squeakers ;) this afternoon, I will do the other tomorrow. :)

Well folks,I get an "A" for effort, but an "F" for observation. :p
All fears on speaker polarity were groundless [pun?] because those clever Audio system people supplied stuff that has the speaker wires grouped per-speaker, and 2 different sized spades & terminals on each speaker, so you cannot fail.
The Sub is now back together and will be going back in the car soonest. May not get it done today as its herself's birthday and the g-kids etc. are popping over.

Well done but my wires didn't have spades and terminals they were soldered to the speakers, from memory the connection points were marked -and+ don't suppose yours were and what colour went to what.

Damn! You have asked just after I have buttoned it all up. ;)
I did look for +/- on the speaker terminals but they were plain.
I have not put it back in yet so I can open it up and take a look for you.
My wires were (as I say) a Black/Red pair and a Blue/White pair(single colours).
Let me know if you need me to open it up again mate, happy to do so and take some pictures. :)

Don't want to interfere with your celebrations mate but if you do have time I would appreciate it.;)

I was asked to provide some additional detail of the dismantle and repair of my sub-woofer unit in my MY2000 4.6 Vogue with the Harmon Kardon speaker system (as signified by the tweeters in the front doors).
All of these pictures are "post-factum" as I had already mended the speaker surrounds and reassembled the unit.

Here is the Unit as it appears when installed in the PSR bin of the boot. In this picture the CD changer has already been removed/not put back yet as that can only happen once the chassis is back in the car.

Conventional wisdom says "just undo the screws around the speakers and lift them out to work on them". Tried that and NO, in this variant you cannot do this.
If you try and lever them out you bend the speaker chassis, so DON'T Try this.
20211120-145551.jpg

What you have to do is split the whole box by undoing the 8 button-headed screws holding the 2 halves of the unit together first, and it will separate quite easily.
There is a compressible rubber gasket embedded in a channel in one of the halves.
Once you get the top half off you can turn it over and you will find that the two speakers are bolted together at the rear with M5 bolts through the heat-sink of the sub-woofer power-amp.
There is a single connector inside the unit plugged into the power amp you can unclip the connector and remove the plug from the socket. In the picture below you can just see one of the bolt-heads (top right) where the heat-sink is bolted to the core of the speaker. Take both bolts out and you can remove the power-amp.

The power amp had this identification sticker on it.

What you can then see is how the speaker wiring is very cleverly arranged so that each pair of speaker wires is in a separate branch on the mini-loom, and for each speakers pair of wires there is a wide-spade connector and a narrow-spade connector. This ensures that you cannot put the wires on the wrong way round. Clever and considerate bastids! :D

You can pull the spades off and then unscrew the speakers and take them out to work on them.

Reassembly is the reverse of all of the above.

I hope this helps @tomcat59alan :)

I feel you mate! I was at my lads from 10 - 2 making wardrobe interiors for custom wardrobes. Never a rest dull moment eh? ;)

... All completed, works fine, car all dried out and back together.
If it wasn't for the carnage mess damage dryness and improved sound, you wouldn't know I had been in there! ;)
