Following on from my other thread I could do with some help with the alternator please.
I am trying to find a replacement. The unit fitted at the moment is a Lucas LRA100 with part number 23842. I have checked the Haynes which says that the original Lucas 11AC would have been 45 amps. I can't find an LRA100 which is 34 amps.
I'm not too familiar with the demands on an alternator but can't work out for the life of me why there is a difference between a 2.25 on a series 2 and the same engine in a series 2a. Mine is a 2.
So - can I fit a 34 amp or do I have to try and find a 45 amps? Will this screw the voltage regulator if I fit a 45 and the current part is a 34?
