roughly not accurately enough to fit belt
Gotcha, thanks. I'd expect the crank pulley marker will be on the money anyway, as that shouldn't have changed.

I'll take a look in the daylight and report back. Thanks for your help JM

I've got the "pointer window" on my bell housing. Is lining up the mark on the crank pulley with the arrow casting on the timing case the same as using the flywheel then?

Just above the square pointer window on top of the clutch housing you will see a bolt. If you remove this, the timing pin can then be fitted. It would be very unusual if yours didnt have one or the other, more than likely the engine pin tbh

Thanks, yes I've got the window, just no markings on the flywheel itself IIRC. I'll check again in the daylight tomorrow.

Sorry don't know why the attachment didn't work

Righto chaps, just popping back to say thank you for all the assistance. In between work and baby sitting (or parenting as my wife calls it) commitments I've managed to get everything back together, and fired the engine up.

All is working well now, after new timing belt, 8 new pushrods and a new vac pump. Started on the button today, and is running well.

Servo assistance on the brakes is still a little weak, even with new pump, hose and servo. Compression test checks out ok, at about 380psi on each cylinder, so I guess it's just the way it'll be. So long as the MOT man agrees. Off for an MOt retest tomorrow, so we shall see.

Thanks again, everyone.

Check the pushrod in the servo, mine wasnt working very well either getting no servo affect and also getting brakes binding turned out the pushrod was faulty in the servo itself

Way I found out was that I could pull the pushrod out of the servo and wiggle it, on the servo i got to replace it (An old one) the pushrod seemed fixed in place and could only go straight forward whereas mine was pressing against the wrong bit of the master cylinder. Pain was the binding brakes was intermittent, sometimes it would run fine for weeks and othertimes it would severely bind out of nowhere
