On one of my video's there's a tiny repair made to the crossmember with filler (fibre-glass).

Somebody commented that if the MOT people see it they can fail it!!!
Is he right or is he talking pure honk?

Why not weld it would of been cheaper and stronger than a bit of fiber glass. And yes it can fail if it is too close to a structural point and not mended properly.
 
At the time I was in the middle of the countryside, many miles from a welder. I had all the kit to hand and for such a tiny hole it's not major.

It's nowhere near any structural point I can see (ie towing bit or a welded join).
 
To be honest, I'd probably have done the same. The hole doesn't look serious enough to be an issue and the quick repair probably looks neater than a welded plate. But I guess that for MOT purposes it wouldn't be sufficient, if they noticed it.
