ive got a clunking i think its my front prop but not sure, could i remove it and have quick test drive to see if it is that? cheers

yes but you'll need to engage difflock in order for the vehicle to move..

kk cheers, ive just bin reading up on google and is it true that if you remove your rear prop it saves you on fuel? i dont do any off roading as my lanny is a work horse so i dont really need 4wd,
cheers in advance!

Not unless youve got the diff lock on all the time...and itd be a bugger the day you need the 4wd or difflock and youve removed the propshaft...

why have a 4wd landrover if you dont need one? and then want to turn it into 2wd?you might wanna consider a vehicle change...

You'd be better off with Ford Escrote maybe ... but yes, you can remove a prop and have 2wd, so long as you leave the transfer box in diff-lock.

Personally, if I were going to do this I'd go the whole hog, remove the diff and half-shafts and blank the holes up ... but I'd keep it rear wheel drive 'cos I like rwd ...

... Well actually I wouldn't, I'd buy a pickup ...

... Well actually I wouldn't, 'cos I love Landrovers ... ;)

ive had an escort and it was ****e thats why i bought a land rover, i dint mean to offend anyone by tekin sayin about having 2wd only, it was just a question on if it was possible

cheers

So you had a 2wd, front wheel drive, found it was ****e and now want to make the Landrover front 2wd ... WHY ?!?!

You say it's a workhorse, well if you do any towing or carrying heavy loads you'll find 4wd or rwd will be a lot better than 2wd/fwd.

how does making it 2wd save fuel?

You are still turning the diff and halfshafts, they are just being turned by the wheels instead.

You would lose a lot of handling benefits too.

Keep it as it is, or buy a tranny van.

i dint think it would save fuel to be honest thats why i asked, i use my defender for my garedening business, i dont wna tek rear prop off it was just a question, and the escort wasnt ****e cos it was 2wd it was ****e because it was a ford
