hi datatek i run with out the front prop, for fuel saving as i don't go off-road
manly motorway driving and back and forth to work

Another newbie fallen for the fuel saving myth.

The only time removing the front prop will save you money is if your viscose coupling is seized and you remove the front prop to save damaging the gearbox/axles any further.

As Datatek has stated above they are permanent 4X4 drive (the motor is only there to change between high and low ratio), I would argue that you are doing more damage to your vehicle if the viscose coupling is in working order, because you are putting all the power to the rear wheels instead of sharing it between all 4. Plus it could cause slight under-steer possibly being as the front wheels are not pulling.

+1 to that.

Had my front prop off for couple of days not long ago because of a U/J problem and needed the car to get spares and having driven it for 6 years I can say it just doesnt go round corners as well in just rear wheel drive, handles much better 4 wheel drive.

yes i would agree with you, now iv put mine back on i can tell the difference,
iv just been to windsor from dover and used the same amount of fuel,
so i was wrong on the fuel saving :(
