2wd It's always 4wd just Hi or Lo rangethank you tomcat it got me thinking, i got wet but very happy all done and 2wd back

+1 to that.Another newbie fallen for the fuel saving myth.
The only time removing the front prop will save you money is if your viscose coupling is seized and you remove the front prop to save damaging the gearbox/axles any further.
As Datatek has stated above they are permanent 4X4 drive (the motor is only there to change between high and low ratio), I would argue that you are doing more damage to your vehicle if the viscose coupling is in working order, because you are putting all the power to the rear wheels instead of sharing it between all 4. Plus it could cause slight under-steer possibly being as the front wheels are not pulling.
