Hi All

I am new to this forum and would firstly like to introduce myself and say hi to all, My name is Richard, I live in Switzeland and own a V8 2002 Disco II, and a 2002 Freelander 3 door V6.

As stated above I own a 2002 Disco II V8, with Self Levelling Suspension, and want to purchase the remote control for lowering for the self levelling suspension. Is the remote the only item I have to purchase to get this to work and does this remote need to be reprogrammed at the dealer or will it work straight off?

Perhaps things are different in Switzerland than here in Australia. My S2 V8 has a button on the dash board for the lift and lower.

A remote control sounds interesting though, must take my arm chair and sit it along side of the track and use to get the suspension to work. Oh.. and I will need the missus to be there saying ".. you always hog the $%^& remote..its just a power thing isnt it?..."

Mine also has a button on the dash but that only raises the suspension, and pressing again resets to the normal ride height. The remote apparently lowers the suspension below the normal as well (only when stationary) for loading and hooking up a trailer or caravan.

Anyway, I bought the remote after the car, It was expensive for a small plastic chunk of electrics that probably cost £5 to manufacture, but it is good and in answer to your question it does need coding to the car by a registered LR agent. I understand they programme it to the car through a computer link.

If not I was fobbed off when I bought mine.

PS My Disco is my faithful rh drive which I bought from the UK with me.

I found this posting about the remote programming for the Discovery II and want to know if any one knows if it works on the 2002 model and if it will work on the Suspension Remote as well

Note: Must be carried out in 8 seconds to access learn mode. Best done with two people. You should have both remotes available or second one will not work.

Open hood and have assistant hold hood alarm switch down.


From inside car, with all doors closed, ignition off and all lock buttons up


Turn ignition on then off


Cycle drivers door button down then up.


Assistant now releases hood switch.


Turn ignition on then off.


If done correctly, horn will beep once and dash LED will light up. This indicates the learn mode has been accessed. If this doesn't happen repeat 1 through 6.


From inside car, push and hold first remote. The dash LED should flash 8 cycles a second for one second indicating that the code was received. If this does not happen repeat steps 1 through 6 again.


Push and hold the second remote, if the code is received the dash LED will flash 8 cycles indicating that the code was received. If this does not happen repeat 1 through 8 again.


Note: Turning the ignition on at any time will cancel the learning process. The system can only store two remote codes and must be done at the same time. If you only have one remote program it twice.

Just to let people know. The button on the dash raises the rear suspension, and when raised will return to normal ride height. The remote fob will lower the rear suspension, and when lowered will return to standard ride height.
Note for these to work the engine needs to be running and all doors closed.
The remote fob is green in colour and your car needs to be programmed to respond to the fob.
The programming sequence you have described is to program the ignition key to deactivate the immobiliser.
