You can get some steering guards with recovery points fitted. not sure what you would need to modify bumper wise.
 
The mantec guard won't bend, that cheap one will. You get what you pay for.
On the nudge bar at the bottom, is there not two 'hoops' or 'holes' you can fix some shackles to??

Recovery points should be GOOD and suitable. Poor recovery points are just dangerous and an accident waiting to happen.

Make sure you use high tensile bolts (8.8 or higher) and will likely need a retaining plate if you are bolting it through. Also make sure whatever you bolt to is sufficiently strong enough and attached to the vehicle securely. i.e. if you attach a recovery point to a bumper, the bumper also needs to then be attached with high tensile bolts.

I'm off to Morocco for 4-5 weeks, I've bought a tow bar and want to attach it to the rear. Not many options for the front

Could I just use the tow bar fixture?
 
Does anyone know of a shackle that will fit the m16 holes on the OEM tow bar?

Only ones I can find are for NATO holes
 
I'm no expedition or recovery expert, and I will defer to those who do know better, but the device you've shown is a Jate Ring, rather than a shackle.
As @discool has already said, Jate rings can be used as recovery points, but only in properly prepared chassis mountings; the holes aren't just drilled through the chassis but they're then lined and the lining welded in place, just like the mounting points in the chassis for fitting a towbar.
Correct size and specification Jate rings can be installed, but from what I've been able to find, instead of a towbar and therefore using the existing mounting points on the chassis.
Front HD recovery points on a Disco present you with a couple of problems, the main one being that the plastic bumper assembly extends lower than the chassis and so it would foul any towing equipment which would probably cause a not insignificant amount of frontal damage. If you've fitted a winch bumper then your problems are then ones of finding a correct place to install the jate rings.
