Found this seller on ebay that's selling recon VCU with bearings for a good price , Claims they are filled with the same fluid as the GKN units ( I'm sure bell's could not find out the exact fliud used ) ?

**Land Rover Freelander 1996-2006 Reconditioned Viscous Coupling Unit / VCU** | eBay

I would still probably get a bell's one as they have a proven record of reliable recon vcu's

I got one of this guy 3 weeks back. So far so good. tightness on full lock is all but gone. have done a lap or 2 of a field to check it engaged as expected.

So far all is good :dnfnoob:

Though can make it even cheaper by not sending your old one back and selling to another reconditioner for £40-50. Not that I would do such a thing:rolleyes:
They don't give you a guarantee if you don't return your old one ..... But A guarantee from an ebay purchase is 14 days and I'm kind of skeptical old tight git.

Can you tell I'm from Yorkshire yet :D

Bell's are £200 + postage ( not sure what they charge ? ) with no bearings fitted .

The bearings are probably cheap one's

The place is local to me ( about 10 miles away )

Aye they most likely are. I will have to see how they go.
Still in the end after I sold the old onethe VCU and bearings cost me £190.
I had It fitted along with diff oils gearbox oil and IRD fluid changed and a drop link At local mpbLandrover for another £130.
Im happy at that..... So Far ..............

I used this seller some time ago......the item location will be inaccurate as I can almost guarantee it will be shipped from Romania. This caused me a problem as I had already booked garage and time off based on their fast delivery option.....which was a bit of a con as wouldnt have been possible so plenty of excuses on this. Have to say tho...so far vcu is ok since it was fitted few months back. Better then old one and 4wd works as would expect so would actually recommend to anyone looking for a replacement but can wait for a week to recieve it. At your own risk of course.
