At any rates, even a 200hp RV8 is still a lot more power than any other Defender engine. And on EFI will easily top 22mpg on a run and should average around 18mpg in actual use.

**** right off 18mpg at a push 14mpg if you drive it with efi
Carb look at 8-14mpg on a 3.5 16mpg if lucky

I've owned 3rv8 including a p38 and 18mpg like a pussy and 14mpg driven with any form of fun.

It is what it is, a 1950s single cam pushrod ali v8
Cheap and easy to source v8 in the uk, but not anymore

I only use petrol so my 3.9 disco gives me an average of 17 to 20 mpg the last time I checked 4 or 5 years ago
1997 Discovery ES V8 auto.
Previously for 10 years 1987 Range Rover Vogue Efi auto, and 2 years 1985 TVR 350i manual.
STAY FROSTY & USE LOGIC ON DIFFICULT JOBS - Get someone else to do it.

I've just travelled 900 miles going from Bristol to Lake District, Scotland, Northumbria and back, towing a 1.5 tonne trailer with a roof tent on the top and got 18.4 mpg and that's from a bog standard, fairly worn 3.5 on carbs in a 110. Lowest I ever get is 17 mpg.
Those are real numbers from varied driving, not unrealistic figures.
