Is there a switch somewhere for reverse gear??
When I select reverse gear in my dse my rear wiper operates to clear window..
Could it be that at fault thinking its still in reverse??
Just a thought,or perhaps mine isn't supposed to do that :)
That is delivered to the BeCM through the Gear Box XYZ switch...if this was at fault, so would a lot of other things :D

I'm with Saint on it being the self-park switch. I really don't know why RR decided that a logic circuit was necessary to perform what every previous car I have owned, bar one, managed to achieve with switch in the wiper motor housing.

The one that didn't have this facility was a Ford 100E. It's wipers were powered by the manifold vacuum. That particular concept deserves its own corner in the Black Museum of Motoring Concept Stupidity.

I remember it well. The faster you drove the slower the wipers wiped.

Somewhere in a landfill site there's a photo of me looking smug standing next to its replacement, a Morris Minor 1000.
I had every reason to look smug; four gears and electric wipers!
Mind you, it was four times the price - £40 against £10.

That should only happen when the windscreen wipers are in operation.:)

Update to this thread. I cut the purple/black wire which had precisely naff all effect.

My next task is to get hold of a replacement rear wiper motor and try that (and repair) the snipped wire.

The current motor is now on my garage floor looking shifty, it knows its days are numbered.

If the replacement motor doesn't work then I guess it points to the BECM, which would be a shame.

Oh.....sorry  Still worth a shot!

It may just be the relay in the BECM, otherwise look at the relevant connector to the BECM for the Park Signal.

Thanks for the ideas. Would I be looking for a corroded or missing pin etc in the connector? If so I've had a check and it all looks pretty ok to me, though I've not got the multimeter out or anything.

What would the BECM relay look like?

A small rectangular box soldered into the board around 1" x 0.75", there are quite a few of them. Before you delve into the BECM, check the signals at the connector, in particular the park signal.
I could probably post a photo later if it helps.
