Hi guys I have just got myself a Disco TD5 2001 ES Auto have had a couple of Pajeros and a newish Shogun Equippe in the past but I have to say I like the Disco best, Its really smooth and quiet compared to the japs and about the same on fuel, took it for a service at local garage and to fix non opening doors Ha ! just got to sort out one or two things but the main one is how to get at the motor for the rear wiper, only had a bit of time today so had a quick look, fuse was ok, started to take back door apart took handle off and door release now is there anything else I have to un screw or do I gently pry door card off ? to get at motor Thanx in advance.

Hi all just an update, not done rear wiper yet as weather took a turn for the worse and not doing in ****ing down rain or snow so left it for now, but have had 4 new tyres put on, was getting a strong smell of diesel so took to local garage its the old FPR so the garage done that for me and blanked the egr off at the same time and charged me £40 quid for fitting, and what a ####in difference that has made so much better now, and just waiting for delivery of new exhaust stright through jobby carnt wait to get that on !!!!

You're on the right way, with doorhandle and release off the card is only fixed with these easy to break plastic things. Work your way carefully all round with a very big screwdriver or better card removel tool. Did mine without problems.

Undo the wiper arm first and then unscrew the engine from inside.

Open the motor assembly and find seized gears.

Loads of brake cleaner for the rust and WD40 do the trick. When everything is working again lube it with grease, I prefer spray grease, easier to use.

Then give it a go and see if the engine is working, if not open engine and change the burned parts. They are easy to locate and to change.

Is a nice 1 hour job on the workbench.

Thanks for the reply working today and the bloody suns out ! never mind might have a go tomoz if weathers ok, not to mechanically minded but will have a go at this, still loving the Disco :)
