Hi both my rear windows do not work the motor still works but the window does not go up or down have taken the cover off and had a look and found a green pin and spring laying in the bottom any ideas? do I need to get a new regulator for both and if so any recommendations on which to get I have seen some bad reviews on some.

@kellykelbe
Frankly, you're more likely to get a more sympathetic and useful answer to your window problem if you ask your questions in the Freelander section of the forum.
However, as with any trouble with a vehicle, you should give as much information as you possibly can; LandyZone does not operate the same 140 character constraints as the Twitterboxsnapnumptything. "My window doesn't work, what's the matter with it" somehow doesn't cut it.

TO be quite honest I find this site so rude and patronising that I will go elsewhere if I could tell you exactly what was wrong with it I wouldn’t need help

Not an altogether unfounded allegation but more info about 'it' does help.

For example my rear window slides horizontally in a lubricating bed of moss and suffers a completely different set of issues to yours.

Getting upset with the whole forum because of a few random replies isn't the way to solve your window problem. Especially if you post a request for help with minimal information and in the wrong section of Landyzone.

The Freelander section is more useful for getting such information, so Blue Beasty has kindly moved it to the place where advice can be given. ;)

Your window problem is going to be the cables. Nothing more than that. You can buy just the cables so you can re-cable them yourself. Or you can buy the complete regulator assembly, ready to fit. The pin thing you found is at the end of one of the cables, it's part of the spring guide. ;)

There's a good chance the cables have rusted within the reel next to the motor causing bits to break. Pending on your skill level I would go for the replacement of the window regulator. fairly priced on ebays or Rimmer Bros. If not able to fix yourself I would make sure the parts are for your freelander 1 age model, 5 door rear.

Yup. Rusted through cables, and if you want to find the apparently "missing" Bowden cable, it will be wound up in the regulator spool. I would use the replacement kit from paddock spares, containing the whole regulator, motor, guides and the works.

Rears are easier than fronts and in my experience more likely to work. Nodge is the expert though.

You can buy the window regulator on ebay for under £40 a side here is a video of how to take the old one out and fit the new one
