Hi

Re my 2003 Land Rover Discovery Td5 ES

I wonder if anyone can help me, my rear sunroof has started to randomly open on its own accord - sometimes it closes with the switch fine but other times it makes a sort of knocking noise and struggles to close but once closed a few minutes later it opens itself again.

I have currently taken the fuse out to stop it opening.

I have had no issues with the sunroofs previously.

Can anyone advise why this is happening??

Many thanks
Sara

It could be the mechanism as the plastic teeth wear which could be the knocking and struggling to close, then it's all out of sync and when it engages again is when it opens on itself.

Mine had the knocking, clicking, jumping and it was the plastic teeth but it didn't open on its own.

Someone else will advise probably better.

Unplug the switch immediately when it closed to see if it cures it or not... if yes, the switch is at fault

Thanks, the rear has two switches - one in the front panel and one in the rear for the passengers to control but can be locked off at the front - I shall unplug them both and see what happens. Might wait until it has stopped raining though first incase it gets stuck open!! :)

did you try with both switches the rear one and it makes tricks with both? ...if yes forget about unplugging them cos the problem is something else which i cant fu=igure out now... might be an ECU missbehaviour
