Hello,

I have a defender 90 TD5, the previous owner has reversed in to something and pushed the spare wheel into the door, this has bent the door ever so slightly but enough to make it rattle.

Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Other than buying a new door.

might not be much help but..
my rear door rattled because the top hinge was worn, i replaced all three hinges recently and its fixed!

It could be that the impact has bent some of the hinges?
Try pushing and pulling the door when its closed by holding the spare wheel, you might be able to locate the rattling

Are the door dovetail supports both male and female still in place? Next to the latch.

I'm not sure where the dovetail parts are?

I've closed the door and given it a shake while holding on to the wheel and I've located a rattle at the bottom corner which I've now padded out with some door seals.

I've found another rattle which looks like a rivet has come off. I will need to take the metal box/panel off on the right hand side above the bench thing.

Just below the lock (on the door) and the lock keeper (on the door opening), you may find a curious pair of metal wedge brackets, which is designed to take the weight of the wheel off the lock. Frequently missing.
If you pull the door from the inside and there is significant movement, it may be possible to move the keeper in slightly to eliminate some movement. Move it too much, and the door won't close/lock , so go in small steps.

The door seems to close and open fine without any other movement, I think I may have solved it with the rubber seals, I shall have to wait and see, if not then it may be a new door eventually.
