I made a tool in the lathe when i did my fronts. Just a piece of Micarta with a 62 to 59.75 mm inside taper. Was easy with the press.

When I go back an see him I will tell him he may av to make something up I've the jubilee clip way doesn't work

I have neither lathe nor press, but you can use a taper bearing race 30306, just a few quid off ebay. 63.8mm to 58.5mm with a height of 16mm. Its worth having a jubilee clip on the top of the bush, and even another half-way down, as you drive it, since the 16mm height of the race is insufficient to stop the upper half of the bush from bulging as it is driven.

That is because the bearing shell diameter is too small and the bush is being constricted too much. I had no problem at all using the tool i made.

I'm not bodge it I'm wait for bits to take up to bloke to do it right

Ok carry on. Hope it works out for you. I suppose if you don't have proper tooling you have to do the best with what you have. It's just the video seems very heath robinson to me. Jubilee clips will do the job but only proper ones not Halfords specials.

Wammers, many people don't have/ have access to a lathe, or want to spend 100 quid on the special tool - nor do they have a 20T press handy. I have plenty of tools, but prefer to spend my budget on things I can re-use and re-purpose. The technique I used worked fine - no damage to the bushes, and enables the bush to be wound in using a threaded bar - which also keeps everything aligned. It does mean you need to use a bearing puller kit - but that's the sort of thing you can use again and again, and/ or the local garage will have in their armoury. I didn't use a real radius arm in the video as I had already re-fitted them, I just wanted to capture the learnings for when I redo this in 10 years time, and if anyone else wants to benefit then great. Dismiss it and call it a bodge if you wish - it works.

I used to own a local garage so am lucky to have many tools. If i need special tools i make them, it's part of the fun.

Well I'm greatfull of any help I can get from here I'm not a mechanic and don't profess to be one I'm doing all I can under the car why I'm off work just to keep me from going stir crazy I certainly couldn't make my own tools even if I did bodge something together I wouldn't trust it to work that's why us less knowledgeable rely on the mechanics on here for advice as always help I've received much appreciated
