Trust me to buy the 1 that's scabbier than Daniella Westbrook's nostrils

It's getting patched with something and dunked in kurust, paint and grease in that order. Could be used in salt water or quarry as stuff I've scraped out from nooks and trannys, between brake flexis etc was quite sandy/silty

Hi mate

For piece of mind I’m wondering if it’s worth getting a camera put inside ur chassis, there are tons of places for the camera to gain access through drainage holes , can go virtually the entire length

Also I’d be very tempted to remove the boot side trim

Nope , I’m not going to put pics up of the inside of my landy as I don’t want to rub it in, enough salt in the wound as it is

Always liked dinitrol, mines all done inside and out of the chassis and shell , only thing I noticed was a 10p size hole in the fuel tank support plate

Just don’t understand it’s just that spot and not right across, know the chassis are very well pre treated from the factory

Or wonder if a previous owner used it for work and stored corrosive items and it’s soaked through the floor over time ????

Please let us know how it goes with the plastic inner wheel arches removed

Did u want me to try and find panels for that area of have u already found them

Don’t forget some more piccies plse , sorry to ask

Chassis is really good to be fair mate, just surface rust so I'm not concerned. If the rain holds off I'll get the arch liner out today and give the whole area a tap and wire brush and post pics. I'm just concentrating on the body, chassis just wants a lick of paint really.
I think it's generally okay to be honest, strange how it's just that spot, other side is quite scabby in same place but not rotten. Maybe with it being nearside it's had more share of ****e off the road on top of whatever it's been used for in the past. Spare tyre is a general grabber AT so I'd guess it's seen some off road work.

I've had a quick Google for panels but haven't come across any yet. I'm not holding my breath lol, doubt there's any places that churn repair panels out for these but it would be a big help cuz I can see this body mount being severe when I dig around it.

I have to point out, this is just a tool for me to get us out and about, it'll never be a show stopper and it's not worth spunking a load of money on for what I'll get back. Don't get me wrong, I'll do (and have done) whatever it needs mechanically so it doesn't let us down, i dont have a problem with spending to keep it roadworthy up to a point, but it'll never be same level as yours, it's just not financially viable for me.

Had a hammer and poke around, whipped a wire brush over it.

Excuse the caggy-handness, filmed on a phone and there ain't a lot of room under these. I get a bit chatty cuz I'm lonely and got no mates

Having no mates is by far the safest way to be.

Thats some strange corrosion, totally rotted out one face yet the inside of the same box section is mint!

Dont forget the chassis and body are mega strong on their own never mind together so I would be inclined to think of weld best as can be done wothout cutting to much out, ie not a full on bodge but near enough is good enough, then treat the hell out of it.
Most of the localised steel looks quite manly so should not be to hard to get some decent welds.

All the rest of the surface corrosion underneath looks totally normal and much the same as my 06 car.

Forogt to say you see the flat black plastic cover on top of the chassis rail right behind the air bag top mount? behind that is a couple of electric plugs that can corrode and the wires can rub though on the chassis where they touch so whilst you are in there a quick look might be worth it.
I stuck some thin foam betwwn the wires and chassis on mine when I first got it.

@lynall you've just lowered my resting heart rate by about 20bpm! Sound advice I think, don't bodge it but don't go mad....

That is strange r.e inner box section, was nice to see though lol I think that's good regarding structural integrity?

I'll check those wires mate and let you all know what the welder wants to do tomorrow, but I'll be asking him to do (This sounds wrong but...) the bare minimum it needs

You sound nothing like I expected (in a good way ;)).

Breathe deep, get yo wallet out and enjoy it again :)

Oeph!

Well at least you know its there.

Don't look too bad to be honest.

Does anyone make new panels for them yet?

Don't seem to be any about mate. Decent fabricator should be ok with it. Welders meant to be coming to have a look but it's ****ing it down

More Ooooh Pooooo:mad:

It’s strange just the 1 side. But get it sorted you know it makes sense.
You said fix it and switch it but you would get another;) only to maybe find the same:).

Maybe you should try the L322:D:)

Stick with it you know what you got then, if that’s all the rot you can find now and you fix it, then stay on top you should be good, for a good few years to come:) and even then be able to sell on an honestly well maintained one.

Rain don’t stop him looking put up your tent:)

I know right? Don't get me wrong, t'other side wants a good going over and treating sooner rather than later but there's no rot. Yet.

Maybe you should try the L322:D:)

Maybe I should just burn all my belongings and cash now :D

Agreed, I couldn't even chop this in at a dealers without feeling like a bellend

He's just phoned, I told him I don't expect him to get the kit out in this so he's gonna come and experience my drive campsite
