I'm rebushing my Disco tomorrow as I have a full SuperPro kit sat on my desk at work. Has anyone else done it and how did they find it?
 
Mine is polybushed throughout.
I found the ones on the rear trailing arms to the axle an absolute b**tard...
 
A big hammer to widen the gap on the axle trailing arm bracket got round it though. When you tighten the bolt back up, it pulls it back in.
Probably didn't help that the brackets were 2 new heavy duty ones that had just been welded on.
 
What was the difficult bit mark? getting the bushes in or relocating the arm? If you fancy popping uo tomorrow to lend a hand, the kettle will be on and there will be biscuits....
 
done all mine, really easy, but i have a press to use at work. takes twice as long without one, and some can be a right pig. :) you will find if you heat them up, they drift out alot easier, but still a pain, also use cooper slip or some rubber lube when fitting.

Cool, well I've got a 30 tonne press and a selection of calibrated hammers so they should help.... What biscuits do you like?
 
Some of the bolts might be a pig to get out. Basic thing to do is wd40 every day for a week takes ten mins. All nuts came undone. only one had to be cut out. Easy with a 1 mm cutting disc. I took mine to have bushes pressed out. they had a 10 ton press with no movement. So I took everything to a place in Fleetwood Large engineering firm they couldn't get them out. so they cut them out for me. cost £60 But it saved a lot of time and heartache. Other than that easy. Don't forget to grease everything bushes and sleeves as they will squeak and be annoying if you don't. Take your time and enjoy it well worth the effort. Good luck.
 
I'm as much worried about supporting the disco as I work as I am about the bushes. Much of what I've read suggests that it can be done supporting the axles on stands provided you do 1 side at a time....
 
I used 4 Axle stands. So it wouldn't go anywhere. Did the back first. both sides at the same time. Then week later the front. You won't need to go right under it. I've quite uneven ground and it was still ok. I used 4 so the front or back end couldn't roll. Got good 6 ton ones from ebay £45 for all 4. Heavy duty aswell.
 
I bought two railway sleepers and cut them into lengths about 400mm long and packed them 3 high under all four corners of the chassis on my concrete workshop floor. Very stable and won't go anywhere when working underneath. A ramp would be better but slabs of timber are cheap and safe. Tried a press and sledge hammer with drifts but just didnt move. I removed all the components off my Disco and then used Oxy\propane and just cut the old bushes out it was quick and easy. Though be careful not to cut into the main forging. Cleaned them up with a wire brush and abrasive paper before a coat of hammerite. Fitted New floflex bushes and pressed in with wit hands no bother :5bsifone:
 
Having real issues getting the rear trailing arm to chassis bushes out - the ones held by the three bolts... Got the bolts out but can't get the bushes out of the chassis
 
Leave them for a day to expand again then hit the washer hard with a hefty hammer. They need a bit of persuasion.

Here's the components when out. Have you undone the three bolts? Mine were in solid. and took quite a lot of heavy handed effort to smack them out.
