In the end we used a lot of UB 40 and some very big waterpump pliers to twist them out. Ta to 1 Spin for coming and lending a hand :)

I have underslung LPG tanks.... rules that one out...

They add to the fun! I had to move the gas tanks to get to the 32mm nut
I did mine on road side, on a hill, drilled and hammered bushes out on wheelie bin and back gate post! It took about four nights to do.
I used a foot length of m10 studding with two nuts and a selection of washers and packers to press them in. Ratchet straps, a pry bar and a fairly big pozi screwdriver are handy for lining things up.

I just hit the LPG tanks out the way with a big hammer and asked them politely if they wouldn't mind refraining from exploding....

On a side note, does anyone remember the boot floor/ welding thread a few months back that had lots of photos of a chap virtually rebuilding his disco. Seem to remember all the body panels were off and everything that could rot had. . I *think* it was a blue D1. I was hoping to have a look through it for reference... seem to remember it was something along the lines of "how far is too far gone" or something like that

Yea I remember that thread. Had no quarter panels at the back. Great work but Sorry can't remember what the thread was called tho.

Use air bags for her much comfier ride. lol

Agree with 3/10 with or without press just take them to engineering firm near you they will get them out. cost me £70 for ten. took the lot to them. saved myself the hard work. By time I'd have got through the third one I would have paid anything to get them out. So best thought take it to my local engineering firm. Job done and enjoyed doing the re-bushing and lift.

Steve - apologies for not getting in touch, got too involved in doing various bits round the garden & completely forgot about it!! I'll make arrangements and drop by soon, as I've got to come to Notts to see another Steve about locking diffs. :D

1Spin - how did you get on with your steering wheel in the end?
