Yo Chaps, some re-assurance needed please, looking at 1993 200tdi, only 83k on the clock, only had one owner from new, comes with one years MOT, i can not find any chassi rot and the interior is immaculate.

I guess im just a bit scared of the age, i was only 12 when that car was born.

Just looking for some confidance from other 200tdi owners.

Cheers

Hi DS, well Disco TDi 200; only one of the best vehicles LR have ever made !!!!

Simple to work on, extraordinarily economical, very reliable - get the picture?

Yes you may well find body-rot problems, but you can learn how to resolve them.

The most important thing is that TDi 200 is a very, very good vehicle.

Better now?????????????????????????

Dave

Never mind the chassis, check the bits you can't see! Please lift the carpets in boot to check the floor and arches. Body rot can be a killer for 200tdis.
Hope it works for you fella

My pleasure Steve and you know what? - It was all true !!!!

Our TDi 200 would give 36mpg round the doors; 40 on a run and a best-ever of 47mpg !!!!

Some days I regret selling her, she was very rusty in the body though and that was along time ago, if I find any similar issues with the TDi 300 auto I'm picking up on Saturday, I'll just set to and sort them.

These are very good vehicles.

Get under it and check the sills, then the rear inner wheel arches, then lift the bonnet and check the inner wings if they are ok its a goodun lol

I've just scrapped a 93 Disco 200tdi and the chassis is sound just surface rust.
Its had a new boot floor and arches done so that's ok but it had rusted out under the carpets , front and rear along the tops of the sills, not hard to repair though.

I'd say go for it:)

Brilliant vehicles. I have one an there's nothing that can't be fixed on them. As said above. Check boot floor, all arches especially inner and sills. They are main places but even if they have gone it's easily fixed so of u can get it at right price it's happy days. Is it a 3 or 5 door? I'm after another 3 door so if u don't want it might have it myself. Haha

Sounds like a good one to me. I echo what the others have said. I have a 93 200 disco and the chassis is spot on on mine, but its the body mounts and all the internal part of the body that tend to rot..
How much are you paying for it..?

The mpg on my 300tdi auto is ridiculous - nothing near those figures!!!

This is a manual 5 door, £1200 and i have managed to persuade my mechanic(Landy Nut) to come with me tomorrow and have a nosey.

I couldnt find find anything amiss but we will see what he turns up tomorrow.

I really hope he doesnt!!

I am encouraged by these figures, I thought it would be much worse being and older model.

Cheers Andy, I have checked the floor from underneath and it looked fine. Didnt want to make a mess by ripping up the carpets from inside.
This thing is near immaculte. I can believe the interior of this Disco.

Looks very mint but so did mine until I looked in the danger areas. Lol. If ur mates a landy nut then he'll know where to look an soon let u know if it's a rusty old snot bag or not. That's a good price if it's not rotten.

Thats a nice 200, my one is in the pic. After it came out of that water the only thing that stopped working was the aftermarket radio which, to be fair had been under water, they are great vehicles

After literally months of research(alot on landyzone) i have a pretty good idea of what to look for, I have turned a few down based on the stuff i have learnt here and my mechanic is great, I phone him up as im walking round and he talks me through what i should be looking at.

lol, Is that pretty much a standard vehicle? I can see the snorkel but did you do anything else to it?
