look at racing quads and there is your answer-back slides.

Due to the lack of weight they will just slip a wheel instead of wind up.
If you post a picture or have a model then their should be a spares catalog available to examine what you have v what it should be if second hand.
i know why id fix a diff in a grass tracker etc but rc might be somewhat different plus it came with one

Did you buy it second-hand? It could be that the previous owner set it up for drift racing ... That's the only form, other than Nitro stock cars, I know that would use a locked rear diff.

My last proper racing car ...

Dunno, I don't think it does standard, maybe it's not been built correctly.

First thing I ever do with a new car is rebuild diffs so they're running properly free, generally I throw the stock bearings and use Tungsten carbide with decent diff lube. I used to run Associated, Losi and Schumacher cars mainly, but preferred schumacher shock oils, and Associated diff grease.
asked the bloke at the shop but he doesnt seem very clued he agrees with everything i ask ,it was as in box ie chassis and drive train we just fitted the rest ,i will get another diff for rear then ,tc4 is an associated car ,so youd recommend getting some decent bearings and lube ,wheel bearings too

Yes. For ultimate speed we also used to remove all bearing shields and not use grease in them, just very light sewing machine oil .. and cleaned them after every race!

Do you race indoors or outdoors? Outdoors leave the shields on, indoors take them off but check scrupulously for nylon 'fluff' .. it's a beeatch to get out once it's heated on and dried to a ball ..

we got this one and another on the way .the boys appearently are good but just let down at times by me not knowing enough http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rc...mIe6APbalc7CGEvxQ&sig2=gf4XMznVT9AAAAUEGdxjDg just noticed drifting in that link ,that will be the diff then

Yeah and the RTR (Ready to Run) means it's put together .. HA!

It's put together, but only like any other mass-produced item, to a price not to a spec. You'd definitely be as well to re-build both diffs. It may be, I don't know 'cos I only ever had Team editions that need building from scratch, that the diff is simply locked by tightening it enough so it doesn't rotate, or has a dummy centre, you might be able to adjust it to work properly .. ;)

Somewhere I have boxes of tyres and wheels and spares for these things .. I was club, and Area Touring Car champion a few years ago! Club champ for about 10 years .. just got old and my thumbs stopped doing what I told them to, that's when I went into refereeing .. :)

i would have bought a house a few years sooner if I'd not gotten into r/c many years ago

there a couple of micromold larks, a couple of tidy Kalts and a small Hirobo Shuttle in one of the sheds, along with at least 5 brand new, boxed, never opened of these orginal Tamiyas
