Hi guys, firstly im new to the forum so hello to everyone. Ive recently bought a 2000 v plate range rover p38 for a restoration project. Ive always loved these cars and this one was very cheap as it had been stood neglected behind a pub in a small village in Lancashire for 2 years. Anyway since getting it home ive had a few people who claim to be in the know tell me that its actually a very rare breed, as in the colour and trim level combination are not seen very often. I was wondering if anybody can confirm this for me. The rr is a 2000 v plate DSE AUTO in paint code 647 Kent green. Many thanks in advance guys. Dan.

Photos?????

And welcome btw :D:D
Thanks for your welcome and quick reply Saint.v8. The range rover is currently sat on my dads drive as he has more space than me. Ill take some pics tomorrow and upload them onto this post tomorrow evening. Have you ever seen one this colour?

It was quite popular in the states from what I can gather.....

Gonna get my book out in a second and see if I can see it listed.....

reply shortly one I have had a read.... the book is: Range Rover, The Second Generation by James Taylor....good bit of reference, worth a read!

From 'The Book', there were only two limited edition models in the 2000 model year...The Linley (which yours most certainly isn't) and the Holland & Holland which was a Tintern Green.....

It doesn't say how many Kent Green models were built, or where they were destined for.....but it was a colour only used in the 2000 MY range, along with the 12 other colours (13 if you include the Tintern Green which was H&H only).....

It is not a colour i have seen myself, nor do I recall anyone else on here saying they have one, so maybe it wasn't a popular colour to be picked.....

So it might be rare in terms of colour, but it isn't a rare model or limited edition vehicle....

Yes, thats the exact same colour, however there are a couple of differences with trim. Im missing the front fog lights due to it been a diesel, the ns fog light blanker is vented for the oil cooler. Also I have no bull bar just standard black bumper which is not colour coded same as the door mirrors. My alloy wheels are also different. As for interior its cream leather with cream carpet and alpine ice. Again thank so much for your help.

I really cant wait till ive finished it to be honest. Its a lovely motor. I think I fell really lucky with it, when I got it home I gave it a bloody good clean as there was mould, trees, algae and all sorts growing all over and inside it. I pumped up the tyres and put a new battery on it. It fired straight up and within seconds the eas had lifted itself up to standard height without any problems. It drives fantastic, the only problem I can see so far is the brake discs are badly pitted with it been stood for 2 years. Oh and the headliner has completely dropped but I hear this is a common problem. Anyway thanks so much for your help, that book sounds like a solid investment. Ill upload pics tomorrow.

Look forward to seeing them....

Congrats on the purchase, the P38 is a grand car, the most rustproof of the Green Oval models...

Keep her maintained and loved and they'll give you endless joy, just keep on top of it, they do tend to 'sulk' if neglected.

Take a good gander at the suspension air bladders, if it has been sat for a period, they do go brittle, so while it may work well now, after a bit of movement they could start cracking....but lets keep our fingers crossed!!

Stick around, we are a bunch of **** taking bar-stewards, but the help, knowledge and advice from the members is second to none.

a good few have been held, yes....there is an events sub-forum thats worth a browse....and the Annual Landyzone camping weekender...they throw on a marquee, beer tent, campfire, off road course etc....a real blast appreantly, again photos abound in the events section.

I do remember one arranged (I didn't go unfortunately) that was just the Range Rover bods......about 12-14 Range Rovers all bowled up to a Pub somewhere and took over the car park drinking beer and chatting about EAS failures, BeCM issues and the like....the Pub apparently didn't know where all these Rangies came from......a few photos where posted......

Doesn't look anything special about that to be honest. Remove the detachable tow bar and put it in the boot before before some tea leaf has it away, they are hard to find. ;);)

That is f*cking rare. Go buy a lottery ticket, now, before it runs out.

I've got one of those too. If they can get it off good luck.

Same here. Mine's absolutely welded in place. I don't think it has moved since it was fitted by the factory.

They would have a job to remove mine, the bolts are rusted solid into the swan neck.:(
