Any help would be appreciated I have Range Rover Sport 2007 and it turns over, just about starts and then nothing, its trying to start.
No Faults on the computer.
I have fuel coming through.
Battery is Good.
The rev counter is moving when turning over so the crank position sensor is ok.
The relay is ok and fuses.
Fuel Tank has never run empty.
has anybody had an issue starting caused by a MAF sensor?
I have checked all the wiring cant see anything.
I'm going to change the fuel filter see if that helps.
Anybody have any ideas!!

Allen

Engine type might help?
Was it okay when you last drove it?
Fueled up recently?
Done anything daft recently, fording/washed engine etc?

The 2.7 v6 is bad for glow plugs failing ,,but i think proper diagnostics would show that .Could try a bit brake cleaner in the intake if it runs n cuts out it might be fuel pump,,have they got 2 fuel pumps ,one at the back that fails  ..

Thanks for all the help, just wanted to know if anyone had the same problem, really appreciate the help and will post the outcome when I get it fixed, looks like down to the dealers for me.

It has two fuel pumps, the one at the back is working as I can hear it when I switch the ignition on listening at the fuel cap and I jumped the relay and you can hear the pump working, just trying to break down the problem, thank for the help Allen

Might be air in diesel the system how long are you cranking it ,,,was it running ,ok be four or did it break down ,,,,try putting an other gallon in the tank faulty gauge maybe:eek:...;)

I will try, it’s got half a tank gauge is always been good never let run down to 1/4 tank and always fill up, cranking for good 10 seconds, it has driven great over last year and just won’t start, I’m just thinking it may be higher pressure pump, still getting fuel out fuel rail loosened a nut and cranked over and fuel was coming through.

Hi

Plus 1 what @Datatek mentions , really need a pressure garage from the fuel shrieder valve that sits at the back of the engine , see what it is with just the ign on plse

What diagnostics are u using plse as it’s not starting there should be DTC fault codes , plus do u have a multimeter as we can talk u through a few tests if u get stuck

also as mentioned ur glow plugs might have failed

At the end of the day if u need a garage and near to Dundee , give mikey a call, he’s extremely knowledgeable and has an excellent reputation , MMP Land Rover , Dundee, DD2 3TN, TEL - 01382 690500

hope that also helps

If you can do a leak back test on the injectors,,,,might be a bad injector loosing pressure in the rail:eek:..

You can't do a leak back test on the injectors used in this engine, as they use a high pressure pre-charge type injector, which means the return line (traditionally just an injector spill) has to be held at 10 Bar, or the injectors don't inject. ;)

It the 10 Bar pressure regulator fails, the engine won't run.

Thanks for the info, I think to many possibilities on this, have a local specialist, I have done all the cheap options, will post when I get it fixed

Did you try a wee bit of easy start or brake cleaner in the intake,If it starts then timing ,engine is good ,and if it runs n wont start on its own ,might be a bad injector ,Im old school  AND START EVERY THING WITH GAS:eek::D:D

Hi got my Car fixed with two EGR valves and an airflow meter, I had to wait a month to get into a specialist, been going great for a week, and now the Fuel-burning pump is smoking under the car, would that have any bearing on the problem I now have by repacing the EGR valaves?

Did you mean fuel burning pump or Fuel Burning Heater ?
