No, I'm sorry, I cant; I dont know what boxes they used n the P38; but rather than telling you your question doesn't make sense; reading It was wondering whether your question is:-
Does engine from manual BMW (Saloon) fit Auto gearbbox in P38
or
Does 2.5 DSE engine from Manual P38 fit Auto-box in P38 that had V8 on it, originally
or
Does 2.5DSE engine out of P38 manual fit gearbox in P38 DSE Auto
I would hazard a guess at the latter; and I would hazard a guess that they probably do; but wouldn't hang my hat on it!
Check green-oval.com they have the parts book CD which should tell you if the engine adapters or bellhousings have different part numbers between the variants; if they dont; chances are its a straight swap; if not; probably ent. Sorry I cant be more help than that though. But sure if you clarify the question some-one can answer more precicely.

Excuse my ignorance on this one but i do believe its not that straight forward.
I think you may find that all the ecu units and various other thingy majigs have to be changed aswell?.
It could be a mine field ?.
