As for tyre. Whatโs wrong with running stock sizes? Camel Trophy ones ran 7.00 x 16 and lots of people doing trials would have run 7.50 x 16 or even 235/85 but may need a bit of body massaging.
Rim off set will also have a big impact.
Would think a 31.10.50R15 could be make to work or a 30.9.50 if not too.

Yes. 31.10.50R15 will work however the 15" rims are no longer safe. I also want to have 16" rims because there are more tyre options available. The 285 75 16 is a much taller and wider tyre so unless I try the 285 70 16 for starters and go from there.
I'm also debating on converting to a auto box (Ashcroft) so the idea is not to mess with the gearing pattern or lift it.
Standard rim and tyres would not suit my RR....would fit fine but probably look out of character.

BF Goodrich 255/70R15 as came with the RR.

Depends on your use profile, I use 235/70x16 on standard RR rims without any modifications, only real issue is that with this size the spare doesnโt fit in the spare wheel well.

Is that a 6 wheel conversion? If so, I have no idea of clearances at the back, you'll have to just try and see and take measurements.
I would say 285/75 is massive and way too big for an otherwise stock RRC. A 235/85 is likely to rub. Hence why the Camel ones ran the narrow 7.00 x 16, as it would sit inside the rear of the rear arch and not foul.

Yes it is (6x6) but rear axle trailing rather than active.It is, wow
The 31.10.50R15 fit with no fouling. However I'm changing to 16" wheels.
