The pump doesn't fill the air bags (unless the receiver is empty) - the pump tops up the receiver......this stored energy of high pressure air is what fills the air bags (and the L322 is nowhere near 3te - only with a full tank, 4 passangers, luggage will it get close to it!)

If the receiver is empty, the poor little pump will indeed try to fill it to a minimum pressure, and then the valves will fill the bags and then the pump has to work again to fill the receiver again, and also try and fill the bags at the same time.

If the EAS has been inactive for a period of time, and with a previous suspect pump, then it is prudent to run the car with the door open (tail gate doesn't inhibit movement on the L322) for 10-15 minutes to allow the pump to fill the receiver first, and then close the door and go for a height change - else the poor little pump has to work over time.

There may not be anything wrong with your pump, just give the poor guy a chance to fill the tank first!

Sorry sir the late update, fitted the kit, reset the error code and the pump is completely silent! Still slow to get off road compared to the p38 but does get there quietly now! However I now have some more issues!! :D I have a strange rumbling sound at low speed when I take my foot off the revs, I have checked props etc nothing seems knackered there, I’m thinking perhaps the diff has lost a couple of teeth, (has the exact same thing happen on my old p38) same kind of rumble sound, is there anything I could be missing, I did check the rear top bushes which seem fooked as when you jack the car up on the suspension leg (air bag lower mount area) so you keep the weight on the air bag, remove the wheel and the top bush mount can be moved by hand with ease! Could thing cause a rumble and the entire hub rumbles round, if you jack the car on the sill so the suspension hangs down, there is no play but the bush looks heavily distorted then? Seem to do nothing but throw money at this car! Oh and I have a new gearbox fault aswell now!! :(

Oh boy, sounds like yours is really starting to test you there....

Ok I have narrowed it down to 3 possibilities for the rumble, it is either the cv joints, the center bearing on the rear prop or the spines on the driveshafts are starting to strip, I don’t think it is the latter as i assume they would be extremely loud if they were stripping and I would lose drive, My money is on the prop bearing or maybe the rear prop UJs, or is the something I could be missing?

Seem to remember something about a recall on the props on early L322s bit cannot remember what it was or what it fixed!

There was a modified joint fitted to where the front prop went into the diff due to the splines rounding off causing a screeching and shuddering involuntary emergency anchorage :)
If that’s the mod you are referring to, what was the original question ?

Yeah there was a recall on them I believe, the easy way to check if it’s been done is to see if there is a heat shield fitted protecting the joint between the prop and diff, I had someone drive the car while I sat in the back and listened and it sound like it’s coming from under the rear passenger side so looks like the rear prop bearing, I’m struggling to find the UJ for it as I’ll replace that aswell does anyone know the part number for just the joint?, oh and now it went into trans fail safe twice yesterday! Once while going up a steep ramp from standing, had to put my foot down and it lost all drive and came up with trans fail, turned off and back on and it drove fine, then coming out of a junction I had to turn hard right and when it went to change from first to second it’s almost as if it takes too long to select second or it selects neutral as the car revs freely and then eventually after about 5 seconds of reving it BANGS into second! It’s been doing it since the new box went in but yesterday when it did it it came up trans fail (the bang was the worst so far), had to switch it offf and on and drove fine, it only seems to do that when your going hard right from standing, I’m just about ready to set the thing on fire and buy a bloody push bike!!
