We have a bunch of those nitwits round here who 'adopted' Brooks Drive a
closed to traffic green lane which was down to just a gravel track passable
by anybody in wellies or decent boots cost the council a mint and the labour
of bands of easily lead volunteers to return it to a featureless roadway you
could walk in soft shoes.5 years on it has returned to its original state
reason because nobody uses it just the same folk who did before 'the
improvements' were made, happily the original features have also returned so
the wild plants are happily thriving and the Squirrels are playing with
their nuts :)

and this seems like a timely oppurtunity to issue a reminder that
National Green Lane Day is looming soon (29/10/06) when GLASS and
other motorised ROW organisations actually put something back into
their hobby by doing some maintenance work!

Just yell for details, several of us here are either area reps or exec
members!

Perhaps this (and other) forums might be a good place to give a
list of "events", or calls for volenteers? I say that as, even when
Green Lanes Officer for N&NROC I could never actually find anyone/
anywhere where help was required. I'd love to put a list up in the
shop to encourage sensible thinking by letting poeple know it goes
on, if nothing else.

Just a thought.

The military vehicle lot are pretty good too, they join societies and
when an issue crops up, they write en-masse to their local MPs, not
using stock template letters, voicing their objections. They managed
to get an exemption to the lookalike firearms bill and other bills
through this method, otherwise they'd have had to saw all the guns off
tanks etc.

I reckon you need that volvo with the 0.50 mounting on it, and a suitable
cannon.

Well considering there is quite a criminal industry re-activating
de-activated firearms I wonder how easy it is to reactivate a tank?

cool. I love the pictures of it in the petrol station. I doubt the council
would approve of using it as a school taxi, though - I bet the kids would
love it. Sort of thing it'd be fun to do once, at end of term or something.
It'd probably cost more in petrol than the job pays, though.

you guess correctly. it did wash the dust off the roof though. roof is the
only bit not yet painted - I suppose it might be worth hunting some suitable
primer to put on first, save effort.
