I forgot to bl**dy order new bolts when i ordered my new bushes.

Notice the local agricultural shop stocks the sizes needed. Although im not sure of the quality of the bolts, they are shiny though.

Will these be alright?

Depends how shiny. If you can see a vague reflection of yourself then yes. If they have a mirror polish then they have a tensile strength of 12 ton

Just have a look at the tensile strength and judge for yourself. They're hardly going to be made of tinfoil

You want nylock nuts. They usually have letters forged\stamped in them to show grade
I'll b home in a few days and could check, but someone else will tell you before then.

Cheers fellas. I never trust the tensile of bolts recently. Nothing seems to be made to last like the old days. The bolt heads usually say 8.8 grade, how true that is i dont know

Mild steel is the material. 8.8 and 10.9 is the tensile strength. Most will be made of mild steel but can be BZP (zinc plated)

This is what I've got and these are correct radius arm bolts

The three lines mean something but I can't remember what, I got these from work and they're the bolts land rover supply for our military fenders

Cheers guys. Went to my aggricultural supplier. The bolts i picked up state CW and 8.8 ok the head. They seem good quality. Or atleast as good as i would get from online atleast

I get all mine from the local bolt shop, they're mostly 8.8 but the odd one I get is 10.9. A lot cheaper than anywhere else as well.

Good links.

So the three markings on the bolts this chap has are akin to the standard 8.8 bolt, which incidentally, is plenty man-enough.

My old flatmate from uni helped with speccing some bolts on a fancy flywheel on one of my old cars, and I recall him telling me about a steel rig they had made up in their engineering place - I forget the load it could carry (it was many tons) but the frame was suspended by 8.8 bolts, and only four of them at that.

An appropriately sized 8.8 bolt is very strong and there is rarely need for anything greater from what I've read.

Hi, yes the pictures do show the tensile strength, that's what the 3 lines are.... its American or Japanese. if you do use aftermarket bolts make sure that the Shoulder (Un treaded Portion) is of sufficient length) and f you opt for the 10.9 (High clamping force) that you use nuts and washers to suit... phil
