Standard Land Rover audio system from 2011 with CD.

I had a problem with a CD coming out of the audio system, but I tried a couple of days later and the CD system worked fine.

Then a couple of days later I heard music in the Rover even though the ignition was off (and they key out). I open the door and turned off the radio; however, within a few seconds the radio came back on. I then turned on the ignition, turned the radio on-off a couple of times leaving it off. Then I turned off the ignition, but within 30 seconds the radio came on again.

To keep the radio from running down the battery I did the following:
- pulled out the F44 – audio system fuse, but it did not help
- pulled out the F30 – audio/instrument group/clock/diagnos and it stopped.

I took the Rover into the dealer in Malmö, Sweden to look at this and a couple of other problems. They put in a new fuse and it appeared to work fine. However, a couple of days later the problem has reappeared. I’ve asked the service department about the problem but they have not encountered it before.
Any ideas?

Have you had it from new?
Has a previous owner wired it up to a permanent live?
Radio faulty ?

Had Defender since new... love it, but seems like the newer Rovers still have some of the electrical problems on my '91 Range Rover.

The one problem prior to it the radio coming on with the ignition off, was the week prior had a problem getting a CD to eject... the CD worked 2 days later.

The radio would have a live feed even when ignition is off to hold the station memory. As you had an issue with the CD is it plausible that the unit is faulty internally. This is just amateur deductive reasoning, I have no relevant experience of the issue.

Thanks timc1967.

If the unit does have an internal fault is it better to just buy a different audio system?

Are the standard Rover audio system considered good (understand that they are OEM)?

Anyone have a recommendation of an alternative audio system if it comes to that?

Thanks :)

Well if Land Rover with its world wide data base don't know how to cure your issue then the rest of us with "amateur deductive reasoning" stand no chance.

If you CD player is a multi player then it have a permanent live supply so may be its leaking back to the head unit but very unlikely.
If is a single CD player head unit then maybe or it is faulty the first thing I would do is remove, unplug and re plug the units/s if still the same which no doubt it will be get the head unit checked out or replaced.

Discool: thanks.

I am in Sweden so although I am using an Approved LR Service Centre, I do not have the luxury of a "pure" LR Service group. I have asked the Swedish dealer to contact the UK service center, but I have not yet heard back from them.

It is a single CD player, so I will try your suggestion.

I sure appreciate this forum.
I will try

If it is a std unit, do you not know anyone that has a spare stereo any where to test it out. Plug an play. Would probably be easier than anything else.
