Is the A/C condenser attached to the rad'?

On the early models it isn't. So battery out [ to make some room], hoses off coolant drained of course, The whole shroud with the fans off [ fiddly a stat last bottom right screw is brail method only :( ], it you can - remove alternator to give you more space, remove the 2 top screws - lean it back slightly and lift it out.

Earlier models have a shorter radiator, '05 prob has the taller rad like the V6's.

Condenser seems to be attached to radiator the a/c pipes are metal with no give
worried about fracturing them if i pull rad too hard

I believe that you have to remove the plastic front bumper assembly and seperate the condenser off the rad'. RAVE or a Haynes manual should clarify that.

When I changed the rad on my 04 TD4 the front bumper had to come off. The a/c condenser unbolted from the rad and then can be moved to allow the rad/fan assembly to come out…

Ideally you want a second person when refitting the bumper…
