:Dadvice please what will you do ;;;;;;plastic above the radiator has a tear about 7 to 8 inches , it is beter to replace a new one from ebay ( oem of chinees ) around £ 110 , or to repair it around £85 to £110 radiator is around 15 year old ( original radiator ):confused:

put a new one in, I think island4x4 do the nissen one from what I`ve read on here and it must have a baffle in the top on a diesel or it wont work properly, rad top splitting seams to be a common fault bring back the brass topped rads

my dse did the same its probably the fact the in and out are both at the top, one half different temp than other two different expansion rates.

Diesel rads are prone to splitting the plastic top 'cap'...change it for a decent make, never feck with the cooling system on a Range Rover...they live and die by it!

yes, now i see it is two parts in diesel radiator the hot cooler go down , the fan cool it and the cooler came up again and back to engine

Just put a Nissen one from Island 4x4 in mine. £150 delivered. It seems to be working well. Needle slap bang at 12 o'clock and steady.

If you're going to have the radiator out you might as well do some other bits and bobs while you're at it:

1) Clean out the intercooler. Not a lot comes out but I swear it makes a difference!
2) Replace the alternator belt and the air-con compressor belt.
3) Replace the thermostat. Not worth risking on a Rangie.
4) How old's the water pump? Again, Island 4x4 do the metal impeller one for £33.

That should mean you don't have to take the bar-steward of a viscous off again for a while. Of course, you might be lucky and the previous owner hasn't done it up with a 4' breaker bar!

:)

Cool. Just the thermostat for the full set! What else could possibly go wrong?!

it easy that always change thing , it a cars I drive so i known what going on than always working with this and that , over a certain period of time those thing is going to break down , after changing these you known a least it good for another 80.000 miles

Is it all plastic or does it have an fibre composite in the plastic for strength?:)

NOT PLASTIC , a nylon pipe of small nylon rob and a solder iron 100 watt above mine I use a 200 watt ,, melt the crack and the rod together and fill it , it done , have start and run the engine till very hot and no leaked
