Back 2 black stuff is crap. You need to feed it oil not smudge on polymer. At first I thought she was winding me up see how much PB I’d rub over my RR but more I think of it more it makes sense

Black rubbery/plastic stuff often comes up great after a coat or two of boiled linseed oil. Peanut butter apparently does work but I've never tried it. Back to black and other preparations don't really handle bleached plastic very well in my experience. I have recently been using Dodo Juice supernatural glaze on new plastic and it is exceptional. Dodo Juice also make a product called Tyromania - it looks a bit like shoe polish and although designed for making tyres shine it can be used on exterior trim so maybe worth a go?
Swissvax make a good trim product but I can't remember what it's called. It works well but it is relatively expensive.

I really Like DoDo Juice too. They try to be as environmentally responsible plus its a UK company

Boiled linseed oil works well and saves you standing in the road smearing your car with food.

Nothing's that good IMHO, but on the beeswax theme I currently use a high melting point grease (ie oil and wax) which you can apply and bring up to a semi shine. The game is obviously to reverse the oil loss/ retain what's still there, so oil and wax ie grease seems the way to go. It may get a bit tacky in summer, but is easily wiped down. I sometimes use silicone spray, but that has a more transient effect
